Today we found an interesting book design made by Kir Rostovsky from Moscow, Russia. The project was made for the international society of typography designers contest 2014.
About the book(s)
During the research of the book Kir explored many aspects related to conjoined twins. One of the most exciting phenomena is that such kind of twins are not only connected by flesh, they often share organs, and they are also linked mentally. Especially Craniopagus twins frequently share a brain. He used of methaphors from ‘conjoined world’ to build a structure for both books.
The books are not only phisically joined, they also share the content. The problem of separation of conjoined twins is very acute from a medical standpoint, so this is the key point of the interaction between both books. A reader should tear page by page to read the entire book. So, by the end of reading, books will be completely separated. However the content of one book becomes incomplete without the other one.
We loved this idea at first sight and want to support young artists like Kir. If you have some awesome book projects like this let us know. This book isn’t for sale but if you like to look at it find it here.
